One marine officer recognizes him and points him out to Sengoku as Laffitte is amused by his reputation being brought up but shrugs it off. His presence causes them to wonder how he entered the base without detection.

Laffitte arrives at Mariejois interrupting the meeting between the warlords and marines. Sometime later, he joined the Blackbeard Pirates becoming crew's navigator. Laffitte was a renowned Peace officer in the West Blue but was run out, due to scandal of violent behavior which led to his disappearance. This secondary, more barbaric side, has yet to have been encountered by the heroes.

However, despite his common smiles and cheery nature, he hides a bloodthirsty and vicious personality and he believesВ in the Blackbeard Pirates main pursuits of luck, fate, and personal dreams with a zeal. He uses a cane for stylistic choice, and he gains a ruffled collar and a cape (Black in the manga, white in the anime), when he becomes the captain of the 5th fleet.ДЄ former sheriff, Laffitte is a polite, calm man who even speaks with kindness when warning people for trying to overthrow Blackbeard. It isn't as if the level 6:ers would've been able to focus their attacks on Sengoku with the Marines also gunning for them if anything, I expect they were mainly protecting Blackbeard.A very tall, thin, and pale man, Lafitte has very pronounced red lips, and he wears gold earrings, a black hat, a white patterned shirt, blue overalls, and black tap shoes. Personally I also wouldn't like it if all his earlier crewmates were weaker than the new ones, but that's a matter of personal opinion.ДЄnd as pointed out before, the Marines were dividing their attacks between the BBs and the WBs. And we know that he received an immense power boost upon stealing Whitebeard's fruit. Causing grave danger to a nation doesn't say much for your strength, in One Piece.ДЄs I said: the people he recruited should logically have been weaker than him even pre-Gura Gura.

Yet, we know that he would barely even be a minor nuisance to someone like Sengoku. Him being in Arabasta certainly caused grave danger to all the country's inhabitants. But you've got to remember, a man of Crocodile's caliber was easily capable of running a whole nation into the ground and effortlessly destroy its greatest combatants. Sure, they'd undoubtedly be very powerful.
